Hit the 'View Source' button in your browser for an example of how Style Sheets work. You can choose from the styles I've defined in Mother.css or define your own. Using these styles will help fit the page in with the rest of the site. Use this page as a template and have fun!

You can change the style for a whole paragraph or any other tag that takes formatting information. Obviously if you use them randomly like this then it'll all end up looking pretty messy rather fast. Look at the source for the Main Index for a working example.
